Philosophy

I believe that music study should be the best part of a student’s day. My goal is to make the learning process for my students easy and fun. I use a wide variety of materials, games, and other activities. Each lesson includes time learning off the bench.

Each student is different and should be treated as individuals. When working with students, I look at their strengths, weaknesses and interests in order to develop a well rounded curriculum for each student. A variety of traditional classical, pop and sacred music is used.

In addition to private lessons, students participate in group lessons monthly during the year. Group lessons are the highlight of every students’ musical journey! Each student is expected to participate in group lessons.

Students learn their music at lessons so that practice time at home is enjoyable rather than frustrating. Students leave piano lessons with a very clear sense of what needs to happen during practice sessions the next week.

Several performance opportunities are offered for students, including recitals, Student Achievement Testing, area festivals, Albion College Piano Festival, Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition and nursing home concerts.

Currently, studios exist in both Jackson and East Lansing, Michigan with waiting lists for both studios.

club.  Warner Elementary, along with Carol Ivkovich, believe in teaching
the whole child.  Bucket Drumming gives our students an opportunity to find
passion in movement and music.  We look to continue this partnership for
years to come.” – Ben Gilpin
